Younger - The Exes (Episode 4)
How does this show have 7 seasons?
Not much happened in this episode.
The most exciting thing was this necklace...

The Trout wearing a medieval torture device. |
Stutton Foster and Pretty Boy had a lot, just so much sex and that was very much about her pleasure and didn’t do a bad job of positive expressions of female sexuality. That was nice, I guess. And Pretty Boy is hot.
Crazy Friend returns for the celebration of Hilary Duff signing The Swede to this publishing company. At least that’s who I think it is. I literally can’t remember what she looks like after she leaves the screen. Her crazy life has her going off to a party “where they are serving sushi off cis gender models”. Wut? Is, is that a joke? It has to be but how is it funny? What am I laughing at? Gender expression? Serving Sushi off models? Then why mention their gender?
Hilary Duff’s gross boyfriend turns up and ruins everything. He really is the absolute worst and I understand that he is part of Hilary’s character growth but he’s just disgusting and I have no desire to see this otherwise strong, independent woman accept his shit like it’s in some way worthwhile. I find him so detestable he doesn’t get a made up name.
At the celebration Hilary Duff and Crazy Friend have a conversation about which actors they had crushes on as teenagers, between Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Andrew Keegan, obviously Sutton Foster has no idea who either of these people are but plays along.
Did Jonothan Taylor Thomas do anything other than Home Improvement? Who is Andrew Keegan? Should I know who he is? I’m their age and the name means nothing.
I Googled and he’s the dickhead from 10 Things I hate About You. I have to assume he did other things because you aren’t supposed to like that guy.
Hilary Duff asks Sutton Foster to keep her from getting too drunk. This goes badly because of the complete douchecannoe of a boyfriend who insists on shots for everyone constantly. Hilary Duff has a big important meeting with The Swede in the morning that she cannot miss!.
Hilary Duff gets drunk, won’t go home and wants to go visit Pretty Boy to get a tattoo. He’s a tattoo artist in Brooklyn. Douchecannoe won’t go to Brooklyn, he doesn’t ‘do’ Brooklyn, whatever that means. He leaves. Sutton and Hilary go to Pretty Boy’s. There’s some drama, it was pretty boring and standard, there was a girl. Who is she? We haven’t defined our relationship yet so he can sleep with other people but I don’t want him too. All that nonsense.
Next day Hilary Duff is, of course, late for her meeting with The Swede who she drunk texted U R HOOOOT!!! Or something. Because that's exactly the kind of things 26 year-old professional women do. Get drunk on work nights and text cute boys! Young people. AmIright? They can’t be trusted to do anything grown ups should be doing these things.
The Trout and Sutton try to stall but they don’t know he hates marketing and they talk to him about that and he storms off, as normal human men do.
Then Sutton and Hilary have a really ugly fight where Sutton says Hilary pulled a Lohan the previous night. Wait, hang on? You don’t know how to tweet and you barely get any references to anything ever but now you suddenly know who Lindsay Lohan is and current Lindsey Lohan? Confused. I guess maybe in the millennial trivia she and Debi Mazer picked up in the first episode that was included.
Hilary Duff goes to The Swedes home to apologise. In the first episode he says he's married. He asks her what happened and to explain the drunk text which she mostly just grovels away and promises it won’t happen again then he kisses her out of the blue like a weird creeper. Are all of the men in this horrible? She likes it though. I hate it. He says something about looking forward to more mistakes or something.
This one probably wasn't as light as the other Younger reviews but I really didn't like anything that happened here.
Stay safe, hate watch with love and as always Do Feminisms!
